In January of 2001, Troy and Anna Joy accepted an invitation to drive from Baton Rouge to Shreveport and teach a monthly Bible study to a group of folks searching for a new church connection. By May, they resigned their positions at Bethany World Prayer Center and moved to Shreveport, stepping out in faith to begin the process of a new church plant. Along with a handful of eager and committed new friends, they met for several months to pray, plan and realize their dream of a fresh, young, life-giving church for Shreveport – Bossier City.
On January 27, 2002, in the University Theatre, LSU-Shreveport, CARR’s home for the next seven years, Church at Red River had its first public service. What a thrilling day! Through the faithfulness of God and the generosity of His people, 46 wooded acres in southeast Shreveport were purchased, and the Church at Red River family moved into its new and permanent home in March 2009.
The Lord has blessed CARR with a skilled and creative team of men and women who love God and His people, and are passionate about creating a place where folks can become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. God is at work at Church at Red River. The life-giving message of the Gospel and the passion and joy of its Sunday Celebrations continues to bring steady and sustained growth. We’d love to have you come and see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is simple.
